Deadline: January 31, 2025 -GTY has opened a grant opportunity for grassroots initiatives addressing issues related to Youth Associated with Non-State Armed Groups (YANSAG).
We are pleased to announce that we have opened "GTY Youth Support Grant," which is designed to support a diverse range of global efforts by individuals or organizations aimed at helping YANSAG* unleash their potential to become agents of peace. We recognize that they are often overlooked, despite playing a crucial role in breaking the cycle of violence.
GTY Youth Support Grant is open to applications from individuals and organizations worldwide. Submissions are accepted in any language, including English, French, Spanish, and Arabic. For those who are not comfortable with the languages listed above, GTY is open to discussing alternative arrangements to ensure accessibility.
The selection criteria for the grant include Knowledge of the Problem and Solution, Motivation, Impact, Feasibility, Sustainability, and Previous Achievements. When applying as an organization, priority will be given to grassroots initiatives over larger organizations.
This year, up to three individuals or organizations will be awarded grant of up to $5,000 each. In addition, each grant recipient will be provided with one year of mentoring and networking support to help expand and strengthen their efforts. The application deadline is January 31st, 2025, at 23:59 JST (Japan Standard Time).

*Youth Associated with Non-State Armed Groups: The term “YANSAG” is defined as “any person aged between 18-35 years, though not strictly limited to this age range, who is or who has been recruited or used by a NSAG (Non State Armed Group) in any capacity”. The status includes various forms of YANSAG, such as defectors, prisoners, detainees, returnees, and ex-combatants.
