November 26, 2024 –We are delighted to announce that a new member from Bosnia and Herzegovina has joined the Global Taskforce for Youth Combatants.
Ms. Mirsada is a survivor of CRSV at the age of 18-year-old during the Bosnian War in the 1990s. After dealing with trauma for many years, she chose to challenge the silence surrounding wartime sexual violence and established "Naš Glas" (Our Voice)—a Bosnia-Herzegovina-based association to help victims and survivors of sexual violence in war. She is committed to spreading a message of peace globally, dedicating her life to creating a better world for everyone.
“I have a message for young people involved in terrorism and conflict: please lay down your weapons and stop fighting. If conflicts continue to escalate, they could lead to the destruction of humanity itself. Through my work, I've witnessed various forms of stigma in the international community. I have been working to address the stigma faced by survivors of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV). Now, through GTY, I would like to tackle another critical issue, the stigma affecting youth associated with non-state armed groups"
