February 26, 2025 –We are delighted to announce that a new member from Nepal has joined the Global Taskforce for Youth Combatants.
Ms. Samjhana is a former member of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of the Maoist movement in Nepal. She joined the Maoist movement at age 16 and experienced various positions from member to commander during the 10-year-long People's War (1996-2006).
Drawing from her own difficulties reintegrating into society after the peace agreement, Ms. Samjhana has a strong desire to share her life experiences with others in similar situations.
“I feel delighted and grateful to be a member of GTY. As per my understanding Transforming war into peace means making society free from conflict which requires equal opportunity, justice, and freedom for all. When every individual gets equal opportunity, fair justice, and experiences freedom then the peace becomes suatainable.”
