A New Member from Pakistan Joined the Global Taskforce for Youth Combatants

We are delighted to welcome a new member, Mr. Abu Aman, joining the Global Taskforce for Youth Combatants.

Mr. Abu Aman comes from a region of Pakistan that has faced prolonged instability. As a student supporting his family, he became involved with a non-state armed group due to the surrounding environment, local pressures, and the experience of losing friends during conflicts.

Through his participation in peacebuilding and capacity-building programs with the Peace and Education Foundation, an NGO dedicated to education and peacebuilding in Pakistan, he recognized the importance of peace and community rebuilding and was able to disengage from the armed group.

For him, peace means safety, dignity, and the opportunity for children to grow up without fear—something he himself did not experience in his own childhood.

“Invest in youth, listen to their stories, and help us break the chain of violence. I believe every young person deserves a peaceful future — Abu Aman.”

Drawing on his personal experience, he currently works to prevent other young people from being drawn into cycles of violence. He supports locally-led peacebuilding initiatives in his community and shares his insights on peace and resilience through blogs.

Through his involvement with GTY, Mr. Abu Aman aims to expand peacebuilding efforts, support the rehabilitation of youth, and promote education and development in his region.
