Submission Guidelines

Global Taskforce for Youth Combatants (GTY) publishes Articles to facilitate discussions around the presence, rights, and empowerment of youth involved in terrorism and armed conflict, through GTY Publications “Transformative Narratives.” All authors are requested to follow the submission guidelines described on this page. 

Writing an Article

We encourage you to adhere to the following guidelines: 

  • All articles should be submitted in English. 
  • Titles should be 30 words or less. 
  • Articles should be from 800 to 1,500 words (unless discussed otherwise with the GTY Team) 
  • Please provide an abstract (Max 80 words) other than the body of your article. 
  • Please use footnotes when mentioning content derived from other sources. 

Content

  • Articles should be original and previously unpublished. 
  • Theme and content should be relevant to:
    • Rights, empowerment, and roles of youth (especially those involved in terrorism or armed conflicts) in peacebuilding, or related fields
    • Issues concerning youth (especially those involved in terrorism or armed conflicts) through multiple academic perspectives including political science, law, sociology, historical studies, and others
    • Insights and viewpoints derived from practical experience in peacebuilding, or related fields
    • Other related themes 
  • Please ensure all information and references are accurate and current. 

Submission Process

  • Please submit your article as a Microsoft Word document (.doc/.docx), along with Author Information, to GTY team at editor@gt4y.org 
  • Articles may include figures, tables, and photos, which should be embedded in the text and submitted separately as attachments. 
  • Author Information includes:
    • Full name and title
    • Professional affiliation (if you have)
    • Headshot as a jpg/pdf file
    • Brief bio (100-150 words)
    • Contact information

Our Review Process

Submitted articles will be reviewed by the GTY team for accuracy and relevance. This process may take a few weeks, and we may request feedback or revisions as needed. Last updated: January 23rd, 2025 

Editrial Policies

We reserve the right to: 

  • Edit submissions for clarity, length, and style (If substantive changes are made, the GTY team will send the author(s) a final version to review before online publication) 
  • Request revisions from authors 
  • Decline submissions that don't meet our criteria. GTY reserves the right to reject submissions containing:
    • Offensive statements towards specific cultures, races, religions, or genders
    • Claims or information that could endanger GTY activities or members
    • Personal details of individuals other than the author
    • Any other content deemed inappropriate for publication
  • Schedule publication according to our editorial calendar
